Virtuosic violinist JENNIFER KOH graces the Philharmonic stage with Music Director LARRY RACHLEFF and the Orchestra on Sat¬urday evening, January 24 at 8:00 for a per¬formance of the Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77.The concert also includes Adams’ The Chairman Dances (Foxtrot for Orchestra) and Hindemith’s Concert for Strings and Brass, Op. 50.
Internationally acclaimed concert violinist JENNIFER KOH’s extraordinary career has taken her from New York City to Mexico City, Geneva, Seoul and virtually everywhere in between. She is highly regarded not only for her onstage intensity and technical prowess but for her beautiful tone and expressive playing. Ms. Koh has been praised for her diverse concert repertoire which often mixes pieces by Tchaikovsky or Vivaldi in with contemporary composer John Adams or jazz legend Ornette Coleman. She has been described by The Strad as “a risk taking, high octane player of the kind who grabs the listener by the ears and doesn’t let go.”
Along with maintaining her extensive performance calendar, Ms. Koh is also an active advocate for music education. She is a board member for the National Association for the Advancement of the Arts and with her own Music Messenger outreach program she has performed for children in classrooms all over the country.
